How to Fix a Scratched Apple Watch Screen Without Replacement

The Apple Watch offers many useful features, such as getting messages and notifications and answering calls on your wrist.

It works like a fitness partner that measures all your movement and provides meaningful health insights like heart rate monitoring, ECG monitoring, Blood oxygen level, etc.

Although the Apple Watch is using toughened glass, it won’t get scratched easily. It is inevitable that more minor scuffs will develop over time, and you might be wondering how to fix a scratched apple watch screen.

Apple Watch scratches can be fixed in a variety of ways. Here we’re going to share some DIY hacks as well as third-party products, but the scratches won’t be removed entirely.

It is advisable to have your screen replaced at an Apple store if it has sustained severe damage.

DIY Methods

It might seem easy to get rid of scratches by replacing your Apple Watch screen, but not everyone appreciates spending so much money on a quick fix.

Most people prefer DIY methods because they’re cheaper and can deliver some remarkable results. You must fully understand the process and requirements before you begin.

Method – 01: Toothpaste and Baking Soda

This method will only help if your apple watch got very minor scratches. If your watch has deep scratches, then probably it won’t work.

Make a mixture with some baking soda and water in a bowl. Now gently rub the mixer watch screen with a cotton bud. Then take a small amount of toothpaste and apply it on the watch screen in the same way.

Now, wait till it dries well. After that use a damp paper towel to wipe this off. If this does not work, and the scratches are still there then do the same thing in reverse with the toothpaste first and then baking soda second.

Method – 02: Using Nail Polish

Nail Polish works very well as a DIY screen repairer. So the way it works is you paint a very very light coating of nail polish in the gouged area and then you basically rub it back to until it removes the surface.

To complete the process you need a colorless or invisible nail polish and a nail polish remover. After applying nail polish let it dry (wait at least 20 minutes) then use a very light amount of nail polish remover to rub the top layer down until you’re left with just the bits that are filling the gaps, and then of course you need to use a clean cloth.

I suggest you use a brand-new dishcloth because it doesn’t leave any fibers behind.

It’s important that when you’re rubbing the nail polish back you don’t want to leave little fibers in that nail polish that end up sticking to your screen. So you should obviously use a microfiber or some sort of dishcloth.

Method -03: Using a Scratch Removing Product

In order to prepare the apple watch for the application we now need our polishing past with a number one on it. The polish is very economical, so only very little of it is required. To apply the polishing past take a soft tissue and rub the polishing past over the display surface.

It is particularly important to process the edge sufficiently. When we have finished applying the polishing past, the first step will be using the alcohol wipe to clean the display thoroughly in order to remove the polish and dirt.

In the next step, we need to Zcratch UV for apple watches. We will apply a half milliliter of this depending on the apple watch model you have (Apply Zcratch UV in the middle of the display).

As soon as the glue is applied, make sure that no bubbles are visible. In case you found any bubbles, remove them with a microfiber cloth.

Next step we then need the PMMA film. Take this out of the box and remove both protective films, first the upper and then the lower layer.

Next carefully and slowly put the PMMA film on the display. Start on one side and slowly lower the film. This is very important to avoid the formation of bubbles. Otherwise, you have to lift the protector again to remove bubbles.

Now the whole thing goes by itself and you can already see the disappearance of the scratches.

In the next step, we take a standard soft tissue fold it twice, and lay it down. It is important that it is fresh so it doesn’t contain any dirt that could scratch the film.

Now we lay it on the screen for 10 to 20 seconds, so that the film can set correctly. Please do not leave it upside down for longer than indicated. This means that we will have the perfect gap dimension later. If a bit of glue runs out that’s no problem, it will be removed later.

As soon as it laid down long enough we turn back the watch. Now let it lay for about 30 seconds to let the film rest briefly. If you see that the protector is pulling a bubble lift the protector, give in a little more glue, and remove the bubble.

If your protector is not in the middle you can center it with your finger. After about 30 seconds no bubbles have shown.

In the next step, we take the UV lamp, open its legs and connect the UV lamp to a power bank or wall charger. Let the UV lamp cure the Zcratch UV (120 seconds are enough).

As soon as the two minutes are over we can move on to the next step. If the apple watch has turned on you can turn it off.

The next step is to clean the watch. With fingernails we carefully coarse glue residue. Now we take the isopropanol and the fresh soft tissue to be firthy with the isopropanol because not much of it is needed.

If glue should have run into the crown, let the glue harden then push it in and turn the crown. This allows you to easily peel off the glue.

We clean the watch with fresh soft tissues and isopropanol until there is no more adhesive residue. It is important that the watch is cleaned very well in order to completely remove the adhesive.

As soon as we finished cleaning we do not see a single scratch and successfully carried out the Zcratch UV application for apple watches.
